Global Travel Update

🛂 ETIAS Postponed to 2026

The European Union has announced that the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), a new entry requirement for visa-exempt travelers to the Schengen Area, will now go into effect in late 2026. The system, designed to enhance border security and streamline entry procedures, was delayed due to the need for further coordination and technical setup among EU member states.

What this means:
If you're planning to travel to Europe in 2025, you do not need to apply for ETIAS authorization. The process remains the same as it has been in previous years. However, travelers are encouraged to stay informed and begin planning for the new requirement as 2026 approaches.

🌍 Shifts in International Travel to the U.S.

Recent data shows a more than 20% decrease in international arrivals at the 10 busiest U.S. airports this past March. While a variety of global factors, such as higher travel costs and logistical hurdles, may have contributed to this temporary dip, travel industry experts are closely monitoring the trend.

What this means:
Though some tourism-dependent sectors may see short-term changes, the U.S. remains a top global destination. Industry leaders are using this moment to innovate and invest in more welcoming, traveler-friendly experiences, aiming to encourage a rebound in future visits.

Looking ahead: As travel trends continue to evolve, opportunities are growing to attract new visitor segments, enhance infrastructure, and create more personalized, sustainable travel experiences for international guests.

✈️ How U.S. Tariffs Are Affecting Air Travel

The U.S. government has recently introduced a new round of tariffs that could lead to higher costs for certain goods and services, including some materials used in aviation. As a result, major airlines like Delta, United, and American have seen their stock prices dip due to investor concerns about rising operating expenses and ongoing inflationary trends across the economy.

What this means: While airfare prices may experience some upward pressure in the coming months, it's not expected to be sudden or extreme. Most travelers likely won’t notice significant changes right away. Airlines are also exploring ways to manage costs more efficiently, such as adjusting routes, optimizing fuel usage, and renegotiating supplier contracts, rather than making drastic cuts to services.
